This week was a fun week in Room 8!
This week in Language arts we wrote a functional writing piece and a narrative story.
We also looked at how to plan and research for an informational article.
This week in math we had a big question we needed to find an answer to about an ice cream shop. The question was:
-If an ice cream shop has 10 flavors, how many two scoop cone options are there?
The students represented their thinking on a poster as they tried to solved the problem. Our work is on display in the hall for a few days if you would like to come and take a look.
In Social studies this week we continued to talk about the natural regions of Alberta. What they are, what makes them unique, and why natural spaces are important.
This week in Science we started to talk about the topic of light and shadow. We brainstormed everything we know about the topic as well as questions we have about it.
This week we also started to learn about weaving. We tried to weave on tree branches but found this more challenging than we thought as the tree branches would break as we wove. As part of the learning process we switched to cardboard looms and our weaving became much easier and a lot more fun! We look forward to weaving patterns and shapes into our work moving forward.
